Young carers given ‘breakfast boost’ at Banbury Academy

A new breakfast club for young carers at Banbury Academy is providing extra support for students responsible for the care of family members.

Students held their first session last Friday (30 June), and enjoyed the opportunity to share their experiences and talk about the different challenges in their lives.

Funding for the Breakfast Club was provided by Sanctuary Housing and Banbury Rotary Club and plans are in place for it to be held each term.

The council’s Young Carers Service works with schools and other partner agencies to support young carers and their families across the county. In Oxfordshire more than 2,600 young carers have been identified and received support since 2008.
