Winter booklet offers advice to older people
Age UK Oxfordshire has once again joined forces with local partners to provide advice to older people on staying healthy and well during the winter.
Brought to you in partnership with Oxfordshire Clinical Commissioning Group, Oxford Health NHS Foundation Trust, South Central Ambulance Service NHS Foundation Trust and Oxfordshire County Council, Age UK Oxfordshire is encouraging older people to create a personalised winter plan.
As we get older, it can be harder to stay healthy in winter, so it is vital that everyone is well prepared when the weather takes a turn for the worse and the season for flu, coughs and colds really kicks in.
‘Staying Well This Winter’ is full of tips and advice on how to look after ourselves and others.
This might include:
- having a list of emergency phone numbers by your phone
- getting repeat prescriptions in plenty of time
- having a free flu vaccination if you are in an ‘at risk’ group.
This useful booklet also includes a handy checklist of items you may need as part of your winter plan.
Ruth Swift, Head of Community Development at Age UK Oxfordshire, said: “We hope that you will find our winter booklet useful. Please pass it on to a friend or neighbour so that as many of us as possible can stay well this winter.”
