Tragic road death in Kidlington on 20 October

The thoughts of staff and councillors at Oxfordshire County Council are with the family of the person who died on 20 October in a road traffic collision on Oxford Road in Kidlington.

The council is committed to Vision Zero a national initiative which aims to eliminate deaths and serious injuries from road traffic collisions. It was first implemented in Sweden in the 1990s.

Councillor Andrew Gant, Oxfordshire County Council’s Cabinet Member for Highways Management, said: “We send our sincere condolences to the family of the person who tragically died in this incident. Such incidents on our roads further focus minds on the vital importance of making our roads and streets safer for all users – especially the most vulnerable.

“The adoption of a Vision Zero approach for Oxfordshire saw the county council join others nationally and internationally in seeking to be proactive in reducing and eliminating deaths and serious injuries on our roads. We will continue to work with partners and stakeholders to look at infrastructure, behaviour, technology and legislation to achieve this change.”
