Temporary traffic light alert for A361 users

Motorists are being advised about the latest phase of improvement work that is due to begin soon on the A361.

Contractors working for Oxfordshire County Council will start the construction of a shared footway on A361 week commencing 21 October and delays to traffic are expected during the work.

The shared footway will be approximately 2.5km long and will run from the new Parsons Piece roundabout to Chipperfield Park Road.

Work, which is scheduled to complete in March 2020, will be carried out during the day under temporary two-way traffic lights with two crews working at separate locations in parallel. Works will be suspended and all traffic management removed for the Christmas period from 20 December 2019 and resume on 6 January 2020.

The footway is part of a larger safety and maintenance improvement project which has so far achieved:

  • Improved drainage - all programmed drainage works including Bloxham Village were completed on 27 September 2019.
  • Resurfacing – all scheduled resurfacing has been completed on 11 October including Bloxham Village and Bloxham Grove Rd junction.
  • Signing, lining and maintenance – a lot of work has already been completed and the team are continuing to make progress on installing cats eyes, signs as well as tackling other small maintenance jobs identified while on site.
