Small works make a big difference in Chipping Norton

Ask someone about highway works and they may tell you that it's about building new roads or filling potholes.

But Oxfordshire County Council also works all year round doing some small-scale but very important work under its new minor works programme.

These relatively small and varied jobs make a big difference in towns and villages and are undertaken by four small teams who travel round the county and have so far, since July, completed more than 100 jobs.

The works are not considered to be safety defects but are identified by county council staff following requests from town and parish councils and reports made on Fix My Street. Recently the gangs have been in Chipping Norton clearing an overgrown footway as the photos show.
