Oxfordshire’s Director of Public Health appointed to national leadership roles

Oxfordshire County Council’s Director of Public Health, Ansaf Azhar, has been appointed to two key leadership positions within the UK’s public health community.

Ansaf has joined the Association of Directors of Public Health (ADPH) Board as Honorary Secretary for Governance. The ADPH Board is made up of six Directors of Public Health and is chaired by the ADPH President.

ADPH, as the representative body for Directors of Public Health across the British Isles and British Overseas Territories, works closely with a range of Government departments, the four CMOs, NHS, devolved administrations, local authorities and national organisations across all sectors to improve and protect the health of the population.

As Honorary Secretary, Ansaf will play a vital role in ensuring the organisation operates within its governance framework, complies with legal requirements, and upholds its policies and protocols. The Board also acts as charity trustees and company directors, providing strategic direction and oversight.

In addition, Ansaf has been appointed Vice Chair of the South East Directors of Public Health Network, supporting collaboration and leadership across the region.

These appointments reflect Ansaf’s commitment to public health and his leadership within the sector.

They also bring national and regional insight back to Oxfordshire, helping to shape local services and improve outcomes for residents.
