Oxfordshire’s care system celebrates partnership success
Oxfordshire County Council is proud to celebrate achieving a good rating in its recent Care Quality Commission (CQC) assessment of adult social care, a recognition made possible through the strength of partnerships across the county.
The CQC praised Oxfordshire’s collaborative approach, highlighting the Oxfordshire Way, which puts partnership with the NHS, local care providers and the voluntary and community sector at the heart of system change.
The council’s joint commissioning with health through one of the largest pooled budgets in the country was recognised as a model of effective integration and prevention.
Councillor Tim Bearder, Oxfordshire County Council’s Cabinet Member for Adult Social Care, said: “This achievement is a shared success. It belongs to every care worker, NHS colleague, voluntary group and community partner who plays their part in supporting Oxfordshire residents. By working together, we’ve shown that integrated care isn’t just a policy ambition it makes a real difference to people’s lives.
“I want to thank every partner across the system for their dedication and teamwork.”
The report noted: “Oxfordshire County Council demonstrated strong strategic partnership working, particularly in facilitating the improved process of hospital discharge and supporting people to stay in their own homes.”
Examples of this partnership in action include:
- Hospital discharge teams working seamlessly with NHS colleagues, helping Oxfordshire achieve one of the lowest delays in the region.
- Reablement services redesigned with health partners, supporting 75 per cent of people to regain independence after short-term care.
- Voluntary and community sector collaboration, including local area coordinators and community connectors, keeping people well and independent for longer.
The council remains committed to working in partnership with care providers, the voluntary and community sector, residents, their families and carers.
