Oxford's PRIDE crossing returns

Oxford’s very own multi-coloured zebra crossing has returned to the city centre.

The rainbow themed crossing was installed last year to coincide with LGBTQI+ PRIDE celebrations and was left in place until a few weeks ago when roadworks meant it needed to be taken up.

But now, with the works compete, it is back as bright as ever outside Oxfordshire County Council’s County Hall offices.

County Councillor Liam Walker, Cabinet member for highway operation and delivery, said: “As an inclusive organisation the county council threw its weight behind last year by putting in this vibrant addition to the crossing on New Lane.

“It was a shame to see it go, but it was only for a short time and it’s given us the opportunity to make sure it’s still making a statement.

“The rainbow colours not only remind us of LGBTQI+ Pride but also, at this time, all the hard working NHS and care workers who are giving their all for our communities.”
