New Director of Children’s Services appointed by Oxfordshire County Council

A new Director of Children’s Services has been appointed by Oxfordshire County Council.

Kevin Gordon comes to Oxfordshire from Hammersmith and Fulham Council, where he is an Assistant Director in Children’s Services. He is scheduled to begin his new role in the summer.

As a trained social worker, Kevin has experience in practice and senior management roles across children’s services.

He is passionate about growing services in community and universal settings; helping identify children and families who need support at the earliest opportunity.

Kevin has delivered a number of improvement and change programmes in children’s services and education, working across schools, children’s social care and the voluntary and community sector.

Talking about his appointment, Kevin said:

“I’m pleased to be joining a council with the scale of ambition of Oxfordshire and look forward to working with colleagues in delivering further improvements to residents.

“These are unprecedented times for everyone, with particular challenges for families. Part of my role will be to support staff and partners across all settings, who are continuing to deliver vital services to Oxfordshire’s children and young people.”

Councillor Ian Hudspeth, Leader of Oxfordshire County Council, said:

“Kevin has vast experience across many organisations in children’s services, particularly regarding service transformation. He is passionate about preventative services, which are important to support those who need our assistance.”
