Oxfordshire County Council services on Monday, 19 September – the Queen’s funeral

Services provided by Oxfordshire County Council will close on the day of the Queen’s funeral - Monday, 19 September.

A bank holiday was approved by King Charles III on Saturday 10 September at the meeting of the Accession Council at St James’s Palace when he was proclaimed King.

As such the following services normally open to the public on a Monday will be closed for the day:

registration services/offices

  • libraries
  • household waste recycling centre
  • heritage services and museums
  • the Oxfordshire music service
  • the county council’s customer service centre and receptions.

Services that are normally open at weekends will be open this Saturday and Sunday (17 and 18 September). Services will also open as usual on Tuesday, 20 September.

Books of condolence will remain available for people to sign at County Hall up until 5pm on Tuesday, 20 September. However, they will not be available on Monday, 19 September as County Hall will be closed.

Across the nation the public have been invited to take part in a National Moment of Reflection to mourn the passing of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II and reflect on her life and legacy.
