Highways England A34 closures - diversion route information

Highways England have announced that they will be carrying out overnight work on the A34 this weekend.

There will be diversions signed for all road users and HGV drivers especially are being advised to  use official diversion routes and avoid local weight restrictions.

Highways England has announced that A34 will be closed as follows:

  • 8-11 November - between Hinksey interchange and Botley interchange between 8pm Friday and 5.30am Monday - completely closed northbound and 2 lane closed southbound.

There are official diversions which will be well signposted, using the ring road for HGVs.

Weight restrictions on other roads will remain in place, in particular, the weak bridge at Newbridge on A415 will remain off limits to all vehicles over 18 tonnes MGW. The ANPR camera at the bridge will record every vehicle over the limit that uses the bridge. HGV drivers should plan their routes to use the official diversions.
