Help improve walking and cycling options in Eynsham
People living or travelling in Eynsham are being asked for their views on a draft local cycling and walking infrastructure plan for Eynsham and surrounding villages until 24 June.
The plan will help to identify positive changes for the village’s walking and cycling network, improving accessibility and connections with the surrounding area including: Begbroke, Botley, Cassington, Farmoor, Freeland, Hanborough, South Leigh, Stanton Harcourt, Swinford and Yarnton over the next 10 years.
Paul Fermer, Director of Environment and Highways for Oxfordshire County Council, said: “Walking, wheeling and cycling for journeys as part of daily life can help retain health, increase happiness and enable connection with nature.
“We make numerous short journeys around our neighbourhoods every day to the shop, doing the school run, catching a bus to work, and visiting friends or family in nearby streets or villages.
“We have routes we follow frequently. We might even have shorter routes we avoid because a road or path feels too narrow or is harder to cross. I’d like to hear from people where their trips could be improved by making small changes like a marked cycle route, a wider pavement, a level pathway or a properly accessible crossing point.
“These changes, however small, can connect a travel network that we can all benefit from and enjoy.”
Residents can take part by visiting the council’s digital engagement and consultation platform, Let’s talk Oxfordshire, and adding a pin and comment to the online map. People can also email comments to placeplanningnorth@oxfordshire.gov.uk or write to Freepost OXFORDSHIRE COUNTY COUNCIL¹.
All responses will be collated and reviewed once the engagement has closed, and a draft plan of improvements will be created and shared for public feedback later this year. A final plan developed from this will then be recommended for formal adoption as council policy and used to help bid for funding to deliver the improvements.
