Find out more about new Banbury primary school

The academy, which will be run by GLF Schools, is inviting applications for Reception and is hosting a public drop-in session at the Cherwell District Council offices in Bodicote from 6-8pm on Thursday 12 November. The event is being organised by GLF with support from the council.

Jon Chaloner, Chief Executive Officer of GLF Schools, said: “We are delighted to be opening a new primary school in Banbury. We have opened four primary schools over the last three years and understand the importance of knowing the local community. We have been working closely with Oxfordshire County Council on plans for the new school and look forward to meeting prospective parents on 12th November."

Education provision

Longford Park Primary will serve the newly developed community of Longford Park in Banbury, and will offer 45 places in reception and a nursery in September 2016.

While the new school will be an academy, the council has a role in selecting the providers best suited to run new schools in consultation with local communities. It also has a role to ensure a variety of education provision is on offer in local areas.

The council’s Cabinet Member for Children, Education and Families Melinda Tilley said: “The new school will be an excellent addition and complement the existing schools serving the local community. I would encourage anyone in the process of deciding which schools to apply for to go along to the drop-in event.”
