Discover secrets of the past at Museums Resource Centre open day

History buffs will have a unique chance to explore a treasure trove of artefacts when the council’s Museums Resource Centre hosts a free open day.

The centre in Standlake, which stores thousands of items of local historic interest, will be open to the public on Sunday (8 October) between 10am and 4pm.

Staff and volunteers will be on hand to take visitors behind the scenes for an inspirational journey through Oxfordshire’s Heritage - from archaeology to the present day.

Among the many curiosities, visitors can view collections from the world famous Witney Blanket industry in a new dedicated storage area - a chance to rediscover a proud local trade and exchange memories of bygone days.

All are welcome, entry is free and there is parking on site. The site is accessible on level ground and suitable for wheelchairs.
