Cumnor church receives assent to deliver same sex marriages

Congratulations have been sent to Cumnor United Reformed Church on becoming only the third venue in Oxfordshire to be registered to be able to host same sex marriages.

Oxfordshire County Council’s Registration Service checked the church’s application form and sent it to the General Register Office in Southport for logging on to the national database.

The Registration Service then received a certificate which officers complete and send on to the church.

The other two venues currently able to hold same sex marriages are the The Friends Meeting House in St Giles and Harris Manchester College Chapel, also in Oxford.

Jacquie Bugeja, Head of Oxfordshire County Council’s Registration Service, said: “Congratulations to Cumnor URC and we’re happy to have played a part in the process that has led to them being able to deliver same sex marriages.”
