Changes to safeguarding training

The OSCB have updated all core safeguarding training to better reflect the needs of delegates and take on board changes to national and local guidance.

From September 2015 these are the courses available.

Generalist /
Early Years Generalist

3 hour course

Core safeguarding information

For those who have regular unsupervised contact with children, i.e. 3 or more times in a 30 day periods

Designated Lead /
Early Years Designated Lead

(specialist level)

3 hour course

Specialist information on safeguarding responsibilities and dealing with concerns raised by colleagues in your team

For those colleagues with leadership or management responsibilities for safeguarding children and young people within their role and/or are the named lead or designated professional for their organisation or setting.

For those that are the designated lead for their organisation, including child minders.

Practitioners such as Children’s Centre outreach workers that work with children and families on a 1:1 basis but don’t have designated lead responsibility, can attend OSCB multi-agency Advanced (Specialist Level) Safeguarding Training.
