A34 Milton Interchange Improvement Scheme - traffic update

This closure is to accommodate work being carried out as part of the A34 Milton Interchange Improvement Scheme and also maintenance work that is being carried out by Highways England, the operator of the A34.

Diversion routes

A34 northbound traffic will leave at Chilton interchange, following the A4185 to Rowstock and straight through that roundabout onto the A4130 northbound. Traffic will re-join the A34 at Milton from the A4130, using the northbound slip road. This is the normal diversion route.

A34 southbound traffic will leave at Milton interchange and will follow the A4130 and A4185 through Milton Hill and Rowstock. Traffic will rejoin the A34 at Chilton interchange using the southbound slip road.

Further closures

The Northbound carriageway will be closed each night from Monday 1 June  to Thursday 4 June inclusive between 10pm and 6am to install a new crash barrier between the existing bridges.

The Southbound off slip road from the A34 will have one lane closed, to allow work to be carried out on the A34 embankment.

Highways England will close one lane of the A34 southbound from Didcot to conduct drainage tests during the same nights.

A34 northbound traffic will leave at Chilton Interchange, following the A4185 to Rowstock and straight through that roundabout onto the A4130 northbound. Traffic will re-join the A34 at Milton from the A4130, using the northbound slip road. This is the normal diversion route.

In order to minimise disruption work to replace some lamp columns at Milton Park Road will also be carried out at the same time as these closures.

Milton services open as usual

While the work continues the local businesses on the A4130 at Milton Services, McDonalds, BP Connect, Premier Inn, the Applecart Restaurant, Costa Coffee and Ridgeway Volkswagen all remain open as usual.
