GOAL! Chance to score a weight loss win with Man v Fat football in Banbury

MAN v FAT Football – a FA-endorsed 16-week football league exclusively for men who are overweight with a BMI of 30+ – is coming to Banbury and would-be players are being invited to sign up.

Local men who want to tackle their weight issues now have the chance to join this incredibly successful weight loss league, which has been commissioned by Achieve Oxfordshire, part of Oxfordshire County Council’s public health department.

With 95% of players losing weight and some players losing up to 70lbs during the 16-week league, it’s no wonder that the Football Association have officially endorsed the leagues.

Set up by Andrew Shanahan who himself lost five stone and was fed-up with weight loss classes just for women, MAN v FAT combines football with easy to follow diet and lifestyle advice as well as 24/7 online and offline support.

There’s the traditional weigh-ins before each game, but this is then followed-up by a 30 minute game of six-a-side football. Extra goal bonuses are awarded depending on the pounds lost by the players, so it becomes a real team effort.

Andrew Shanahan, Managing Director of www.manvfat.com said, "We're thrilled to offer this to men across the UK. We've seen that MAN v FAT Football can have an incredible impact on the health of our players with 95% of players losing weight and 93% reporting health improvements from curing sleep apnoea to huge improvements in blood pressure and joint pain.

“Across 2017 our players lost more than 7 tonnes in weight and we know that we’re going to smash that in 2018 with leagues like the one in Banbury.”

Donna Husband, Head of Commissioning Health Improvement at Oxfordshire County Council said: “We're really pleased to commission Achieve Oxfordshire to bring this fabulous service to men in the north of the county who want to get healthy and lose weight.

“We have already commissioned the service for men in the Bicester area and that’s proved highly popular.

“Finding an exercise regime that is fun and engaging means that these men are more likely to stay committed to the programme and will shift pounds, make great friends and score some goal along the way.”

MAN v FAT Football will run for 16-weeks on Thursday nights between 8pm and 10pm.

Players can join up at www.manvfatfootball.org.uk/banbury and they can get more information by calling 0845 163 0042 or emailing football@manvfat.com
