Work to begin on Station Road in Didcot

The council have designed the work to minimise disruption and maintain access to the station, workplaces and properties. We have been in dialogue with First Great Western, the bus and taxi companies in order to maintain access for users to the station.

During the resurfacing work Station Road will be closed except for access between Cronshall Close and Lydalls Road and a signed diversion for through traffic via the Didcot Perimeter Road will be in place.

The resurfacing will take place in three phases:

Phase 1 - This section is from just west of Cronshaw Close to just east of Haydon Road.  Access to the drop-off and short stay car park for the rail station will be from the east along Station Road, utilising the current exit-junction for both entry and exiting of the car park.

Phase 2 - This section is from just west of Haydon Road across the west access to the rail station to just west of the east exit to the station.  Access to the drop-off and short stay car park for the rail station will be from the west along Station Road, utilising the current entry point for both entry and exiting of the this car park.  Temporarily buses will be relocated from the main frontage to the station to the short stay car park.  Taxis will still have access to the main frontage from the east exit point which will act for both access and egress.

Phase 3 - This section will be from just west of the main exit point to the station to west of the east car park access.  Bus and taxi arrangements will be as for Phase 2.  Access and egress to the west short stay car park will revert to separate entry and exit points.

Work is expected to be completed by Saturday 18 and the road fully reopened on Sunday 19 October.
