Support with Ofsted inspections

Common Inspection Framework (CIF) briefings

Over the past term we have been running CIF briefings in all partnership areas in Oxfordshire.

We will now be running further briefings for those early years providers who weren’t able to attend. Also, two mop-up sessions will be offered per area in early 2016 through Step into Training.

These sessions are a great way for you to familiarise yourself with changes to the Ofsted inspection framework, so you are ready for future inspections.

If you have not been contacted about these sessions please email early.years@oxfordshire.gov.uk

Our support during Ofsted inspections

We would like to clarify what support our team is able to offer during and after Ofsted inspections.

Attending inspections

You can ask a member of the Oxfordshire Early Years team to attend inspections to speak with inspectors, and to attend feedback on behalf of the local authority.

We will not always be able to attend, but will prioritise schools and settings where good or outstanding outcomes are less likely. Now that early years providers routinely receive half a day’s notice of inspection, this is more achievable.

Sharing inspection outcomes

It is very helpful if you confidentially share the provisional inspection grade with our team. We can then organise support more quickly if needed.

As part of the Nursery Education Funding agreement you are required to inform us if an inadequate outcome has resulted, or about inadequate monitoring inspections.

Visit our early education and childcare provider homepage for a lots of useful information on training, best practice, funding, resources, and much more.
