Road improvements planned for Woodperry Hill and Straight Mile Road, Horton-cum-Studley

Oxfordshire County Council will be carrying out repairs and improvements on Straight Mile Road, Horton-cum-Studley, between Woodperry Hill and Horton Hill in the coming weeks.

Around £805,000 will be spent on structural repairs to the road edges, resurfacing the carriageway, drainage improvements, kerb and footway repairs and replacing road markings.

Work is set to start on Monday 7 August 2017 and is expected to last for six weeks.

Traffic management

The work will be carried out under a road closure for safety reasons in two phases.

  • Phase 1: Monday 7 August to Friday 1 September – full road closure between Woodperry Hill and Studley Wood Golf Club
  • Phase 2: Monday 4 September to Friday 15 September – full road closure between Studley Wood Golf Club and Horton Hill

A signed diversion route will be put in place during the above phases which will direct traffic via Oakley Road, Mill Street, Stanton St John and the B4027 and vice versa.

This is one of a number of maintenance projects funded thanks to a successful bid by the county council to the Department for Transport for the Local Highways Maintenance Challenge Fund, which resulted in a government grant of almost £13m.
