Resurfacing work on A4130 completed early

The £4.5m scheme provided much needed maintenance to a 1.1m stretch of the A4130 between Bix Village and Fair Mile at the junction of the B480 to Lower Assendon, which was rapidly failing.

The work included resurfacing the east and westbound carriageways, replacing the existing highway drainage, hedge planting and repair of a swallow hole.

Work began in May and involved several different phases of work which required the need for sections of the road to be closed and a contraflow to be put in.

Councillor David Nimmo Smith, Cabinet Member for Transport, said: “I am delighted that this work has been completed ahead of schedule and congratulations must go to all that have worked on the scheme to achieve this.

“This vital work will mean that the road is safe for motorists for many years to come. We appreciate that this work has caused considerable disruption to commuters and I thank them for bearing with us during this time.”
