New seat in Wheatley shows councils are on good form

Bus passengers in Wheatley can rest easy while they wait for their bus with the arrival of a new bench.

The parish council decided to buy the seat to enhance the bus stop and local area after requests from older residents who approached a parish councillor with the idea. The county council provided advice on installing it on the pavement and the rest is history… or the future.

Michelle Legg, Wheatley Parish Clerk, said: “We keep in regular contact with the county council and together have been able to enhance the village in some small but significant ways.

“We recently worked together to get some dropped kerbs put in to help people with mobility difficulties to get around, and now they have been very helpful assisting in getting the bench installed properly.”
