New 30mph speed limit and ‘puffin’ crossing for East Hendred
A new 30mph speed limit and a ‘puffin’ signalled crossing are to be implemented on the A417 Reading Road at East Hendred in southern Oxfordshire.
The changes are to be made in response to a new residential development on the north side of the A417 east of its junction with White Road.
Funding for the work has been provided by the housing developer responsible for the nearby new homes.
In approving the changes the County Council’s Cabinet Member for Environment, Councillor Yvonne Constance noted that the Parish Council wanted the speed limit extended further west to cover the Allins Lane junction and instructed officers to work with the Parish to see if this can be realised.
