Lane closure on A44 from 16 April

There will be a lane closure in place on the A44 southbound between Wolvercote and Peartree roundabout starting from the evening of 16 April until mid-July.

The closure is needed so that the team have space to work as they continue to make progress on improving the roundabout and the approach roads. It will allow for moving the central reservation and creating an additional lane on the approach to Wolvercote roundabout.

The bus lane will remain open meaning that, for some people, the bus or park and ride may be a better option.

The end result will be more capacity and more reliable journey times for people using the road. This could add to congestion and could increase your journey times.

Planning your journey and considering different travel times, alternative routes or modes of transport could help avoid the worst of delays.

Work to finish early

Following a review our contractor, Skanska, has identified activities which can now be accelerated meaning that work is now forecast to be finished six weeks sooner in mid-October.
