Information on the firefighter strike affecting Oxfordshire for 24 hours from 9am on Thursday 12 June

Details of incidents attended (updated at 9am)

The first Fire and Rescue Service attendance during the strike period was after a call at 10.23am about a baby locked in a car in Sunningwell Road, Oxford. The vehicle had been unlocked and the baby released prior to the arrival of firefighters.

Absorbant granules were used to deal with fuel leaking from a car in West Street, Banbury, after the Fire and Rescue Service attended following a call from a member of the public at 12.47pm.

At 1.03pm a member of the public phoned about a small fire at Shotover, Oxford. Firefighters attended and dealt with the incident, which is thought to have been caused by a bonfire.

At 3.54pm firefighters were summoned to a field near Kelmscott - a village about six miles north-west of Faringdon - where a horse was in distress. The animal was confirmed as deceased at the scene by a vet.

A fire engine went to a sheltered housing block in Banbury Road, Kidlington after a 999 call was made at 6.08pm. The incident was a false alarm caused by cooking fumes. The same reason took firefighters to a sheltered housing block in Tern Walk, Blackbird Leys, Oxford, after Oxfordshire Fire and Rescue Service were alerted at 6.58pm.

Fire crews went to a bedroom fire in Oxford's Cowley Road after receiving an emergency call at 7.19pm. On arrival two people were outside the property and were subsequently taken into the care of South Central Ambulance Service.

Three minutes later Thame firefighters went to Bandit Way in the town where a false alarm had been triggered by a power interruption.

An occupant of a sheltered housing flat in Stones Court, Oxford was escorted out of the property following a pan fire, the call for which was received by the Fire and Rescue Service at 10.04pm.

Firefighters went to four false alarms overnight:

• Dust in a detector took Thame firefighters to a premises in Dormer Road in the town, following receipt of an emergency call at 12.33am
• A crew was summoned to Corpus Christi College in Merton Street, Oxford at 2.39am because of an alarm system fault
• The same reason meant firefighters attended a sheltered housing complex in Hunts Close, Burford, after being alerted at 3.12am
• Firefighters went to Lady Margaret Hall in Norham Gardens, Oxford after an alarm was raised because of aerosol fumes being sprayed near to a detector head. The call was received at 3.56am
