Free home testing HIV kit

Did you know that an estimated 20,000 people in the UK have HIV but don’t know it? National HIV Testing Week starts on 18th November this year – however you can get tested any time of the year at sexual health services in Oxfordshire. Early diagnosis not only means a near-normal lifespan, but also makes it less likely that the virus will be passed on to others.

You can find your nearest sexual health clinic at www.sexualhealthoxfordshire.nhs.uk or go online for a free home test kit at www.test.hiv.

Cllr Hilary Hibbert-Biles, Oxfordshire County Council’s cabinet member for Public Health, said: “HIV Testing Week is a great opportunity to raise awareness about HIV and help people in Oxfordshire get the information they need to stay healthy. We work hard to ensure that all our residents have access high quality sexual health services. I hope we can encourage plenty of people to take the opportunity to get tested and up-to-date on all the facts.” More information about HIV can be found at www.startswithme.org.uk.
