County's finest young musicians excel at Royal Albert Hall

The iconic Royal Albert Hall resonated to the sounds of Oxfordshire’s finest young musicians on Monday (13 November) as the Oxfordshire County Youth Orchestra performed at the Music for Youth Prom.

The packed venue heard the 135 players of the orchestra - aged 13 to 20 - perform the tumultuous finale of the Pines of Rome by Respighi, conducted by Dr.John Traill.

The orchestra was also centre stage as all 1,000 of the prom’s young musicians took part to perform Shine the Light Bright by Pete Letanka to a rapturous audience.

Strong praise

Head of the Oxfordshire County Music Service Angela Turton said: “The orchestra’s playing drew strong praise from many of those watching and the players themselves really rose to the occasion and thoroughly enjoyed the opportunity to play at one of the world’s leading concert venues."
