August work planned for the Avenue in Kennington

A stretch of the Avenue in Kennington will be repaired by Oxfordshire County Council in August.

The work will take place between the St Swithun’s Road and Playfield Road junctions and is set to start on 21 August 2017. It will include replacing existing kerbs and ironwork, resurfacing of the existing carriageway and the replacement of road markings.

This batch of work completes a stretch between other areas that have seen improvements in recent years.

Traffic management

To keep traffic disruption to a minimum, and so the work can be done safely, it will be done in the following phases:

  • Phase 1: Monday 21 August to Friday 25 August, 9:30am to 3:30pm – two-way temporary traffic signals to complete pre-surfacing work, including kerb and ironwork replacement.
  • Phase 2: Tuesday 29 August and Wednesday 30 August, 10:00am to 6:00pm – full road closure to enable the resurfacing work to be carried out and replacement of road markings.

The Avenue, Kennington will be fully reopened to traffic outside of these periods.
